Out Of School Youth Project

The Hands of Care and Hope Initiative, managed by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa ,operates on the periphery of Nairobi, serving the underprivileged communities within Huruma, Madoya Korogocho and Kariobangi North. The project dedicates itself to aiding approximately 1400 marginalized individuals, including orphans, vulnerable children, parents and street youths. The organization provides Formal Education to over 1095 children. In additional to educational effort, HCH has established the Mother Kevin Youth Centre, a hub for youth–oriented programs and parental meetings. To tackle the challenges faced by the youth, particularly those not in education, Hands of Care and Hope has initiated a project for out-of-School youth at Mother Kevin Youth Centre in Huruma. This project focuses on young people aged 18 to 26 years who are not actively engaged in the community, including school dropouts and those who have not achieved satisfactory exam results. Many of those youths struggle with drug abuse and anti-social behaviors and others experience a sense of hopelessness. They are identified either through the parish or by our social workers who are actively engaged in the community.
